B1 Competencies Descriptors adapted from CEFR

In this B1 level, students can:


  • Maintain interaction and get across what they want to express in a range of contexts and follow the main points of extended conversations in topics such as family, community, work, technology, and other forms of cultural development in accurate expression of their feelings and emotions based on their human needs. As well, they can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst traveling in an area where the language is spoken. They can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

  • Listen to different types of material oriented to inform, narrate, describe or explain a wide range of topics concerning their interest. They can write well-structured formats such as letters, emails, simple narrative, explanatory and descriptive paragraphs making use of connecting words for a logically sequenced text.
